It could be said that “A River Runs Through” my artwork. My fascination with the water of ponds and rivers, and my efforts to capture its complexity, has fueled my artistic drive. My earlier work often featured ponds and rock strewn rivers.
Now, more usually, I explore the fluid dynamics of the paint itself; my technique of pouring and mixing directly on the canvas maintains the essence of fluidity.
I carefully capture any paint which has overflowed and pooled beneath the canvas; drips large and small are used to sculpt new 3D paintings I call “singularities”. The color, energy and movement of the original painting is captured in the in the smooth, glossy acrylic skins with their intricate geometric patterns of nature; shell-like spirals, fossil-like markings and water ripples.
